Batho Pele Convention is a permanent, membership funded, non-partisan, grassroots social movement registered as a Non-Profit Company in South Africa. Our mission is Siyazenzela: to build a parallel machine of service and economic self-sufficiency that steps in where the state fails, and to hold the powerful accountable in the advancement of a just, united and democratic society grounded in Ubuntu. Our programs include community based service delivery, economic self-sufficiency and production hubs, an Alumni League of Public Schools.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, we ask for your name, surname, mobile number, province, town/city, and whether you endorse the call. A WhatsApp number, email address, and a short comment (up to 80 characters) are all optional. We also record the IP address of the device used to submit the form, for the sole purpose of preventing spam and abuse of the sign-up process.

Why we collect it

To let you know when a Batho Pele Convention chapter opens near you, based on your province and town/city.
To keep in touch about the movement, including by email, WhatsApp or phone, if you have provided those details.
To understand the level of public support for the call, and to read the comments people choose to share.
To protect the sign-up form from automated or abusive submissions.

Cookies

This site uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use it, so we can improve it over time. Google Analytics works by placing cookies (small files stored in your browser) that record things like which pages you visit and how you got here. We don't use cookies for advertising, and we don't sell any data collected through Google Analytics.

These analytics cookies are optional. On your first visit you'll be asked to accept or decline them, and they are only set if you accept. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of this site.

A small number of strictly necessary cookies (for example, from Cloudflare Turnstile, which protects our sign-up form from spam and abuse) may be set regardless of your cookie choice, since the form cannot function securely without them.

How we protect it

Your information is stored in an access-controlled database and is not publicly accessible. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties except where necessary to operate this website and the waitlist (for example, our hosting and infrastructure providers).

Your choices

You can ask us to remove your details from the waitlist at any time. If you would like to do so, or have any questions about how your information is handled, please get in touch through our official social media channels linked on the homepage.

Changes to this policy

We may update this notice as the Convention's structures and practices develop. Any material changes will be reflected on this page.
