The Movement  ·  Siyazenzela

About the Batho Pele Convention

A permanent, non-partisan, membership-funded social movement grounded in Self-Sufficiency, Citizen Agency and Ubuntu, formally registered as a Non-Profit Company under South Africa’s Companies Act.

The Core Mandate

The Diagnostic Crisis

The BPC notes a profound decay of state capability and the absolute abandonment of the post-1994 constitutional promise to ordinary citizens.

The Solution, Siyazenzela

Rather than operating as a traditional political party or a passive protest group, the BPC invokes the primary rights of Self-Sufficiency, Self-Preservation, and Citizen Agency. Its mission is to build an active, parallel machine of service delivery and economic self-reliance that steps in directly where the state fails, while holding powerful authorities strictly accountable, to advance a Just, United, and Democratic Society based on Ubuntu.

Foundational Values

Five commitments that anchor every chapter and every campaign the BPC runs.

01

Self-Sufficiency and Self-Preservation

The state of being entirely self-reliant in securing basic human needs, cultural advancement, production, and communal self-confidence.

02

Citizen Agency

The structural capacity of localised communities to directly influence state outcomes, disrupt stagnation, and hold authorities accountable.

03

Ubuntu

Standing on the unshakeable worldview of “I am because we are,” meaning the well-being of the individual is inseparable from the well-being of the community.

04

Batho Pele

Restoring the metric that the people and their collective interests must always reign supreme in leadership and public service.

05

A United, Just, and Democratic Society

Actively overcoming South Africa’s historical legacy of racial segregation and inequality by building a bottom-up developmental state based on the supremacy of the Constitution.

How to Get Involved

Ordinary citizens, workers, and professionals can actively participate in the movement through two membership fee and grassroots based BPC Wings.

A

Community-Based Chapters

01
What they are

Self-organising cells located within villages, towns and townships, run entirely by local residents.

02
How they work

Chapters audit their own immediate residential environments, map critical service delivery failures such as dry taps, dark roads, or security vacuums, and mobilise local resources to resolve them.

03
How to participate

Members attend regular local assembly meetings, identify urgent neighbourhood service vacuums, volunteer manual labour, and participate in localised micro-capital pooling.

B

The Alumni League of Public Schools

01
What it is

A specialised educational network designed to match the institutional wealth of private schools by organising successful public school graduates into a coordinated national structure.

02
How it works

It connects successful black professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, and corporate executives back to the township and rural public schools they attended, allowing them to directly fund infrastructure upgrades such as ceilings, windows, furniture, libraries and computer labs, while bypassing state red tape.

03
How to participate

Members register under their former public school alumni chapters within the national league, pool financial capital with fellow alumni through membership fees, and volunteer professional skills to guide school restoration projects.
